Violoncello

Acknowledged for his musical intuition and deep expressiveness cellist Samuel Olivera graduated in 2022 from Natalie Clein's class at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock with Auszeichnung, he also studied Chamber Music with David Quiggle at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln, Martin Osten (Universidad Católica de Chile), Alejandro Tagle (Universidad Católica de Chile), Alejandro Tagle (Universidad de Talca) and Rodrigo Durán at the Conservaorio Laurencia Contreras in Concepción, and received artistic guidance through Masterclasses and courses with musicians such as Johannes Moser, Karin Georgian, Jens-Peter Maintz, Jan Müller-Szeraws, Michael Sanderling and Heidi Litschauer, the latter being an enormous support throughout her career.

He has performed in important concert halls in America and Europe with prestigious orchestras such as the Municipal Philharmonic Orchestra of Santiago, Gürzenich Orchester Köln, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and the World Orchestra, and has recorded with them for Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, Berlin Classics and Myrios Classics, notably the complete cycles of Brahms and Schostakovich with Christoph Eschenbach, as well as Bruckner and Mahler with François-Xavier Roth.

He has always been closely linked to chamber music, thus between 2014 and 2018 he belongs to the Esar Quartet, since 2015 he has been working in duo with the Chilean pianist Ricardo Bahamondez and since 2020 with the Trio Animato, among many other collaborations with different ensembles and musicians, as a performer and artistic advisor, being recognized by his colleagues for his particular interest towards new repertoires, musical forms and a human and close commitment with the public. Throughout his career he has received awards, grants and prizes from different organisations and institutions.

Samuel uses a Francesco Ruggieri Violoncello from 1670, belonging to H. Litschauer.
